About Us

The Bleeding Disorders of Kentucky (BDoKY) Board is a diverse group of individuals invested in the improvement of health and wellness for individuals and families living with bleeding disorders.  This group brings together an array of legal, financial, clinical, and business experts in an effort to provide support and service to Kentucky residents.

BDoKY Executive Director

Alane Foley was only 6 years old when she was thrown into the world of bleeding disorders. Her new baby brother, Sam, was born with severe hemophilia A. She spent her adolescent life watching her mother care for Sam and learning the ins and outs of what it takes to raise a child with hemophilia. It did not take long for her to understand that individuals with bleeding disorders might be fragile but they sure are tough. Once an adult, equipped with the knowledge she gained through her life experience, this would prove to be very important, as she became a hemophilia parent as well.

Alane gave birth to Maclan in 2015, receiving his hemophilia diagnosis shortly after. Maclan fought his initial battles courageously and continues to stand brave in his fight. Alane and her husband, Harold, spend their time advocating for individuals with bleeding disorders through volunteering, parent support, community events and educational outreach. Alane worked in the commercial insurance industry for 20+ years and most recently served on the executive team for the Kentucky Public Pensions Authority. She takes great pride in her role as an advocate for patients and families living with bleeding disorders.

Collaboration

BDoKY works collaboratively with both Hemophilia Treatment Centers (HTC) in an effort to provide quality education and support across the Commonwealth of KY.  We encourage all bleeding disorder patients to connect with an HTC for comprehensive care management and access to the newest treatment options.
